Most skid steers operate on diesel fuel, which requires a little extra kick to get started. When the weather cools down, it is important to make sure that your heating grid works so there’s no wasted time waiting on the engine.
Testing the preheater is pretty simple. First, consult the manual for recommended specs and safety guidelines. After ensuring safety and knowledge of the specs, unplug the preheater from the power supply. For the Bobcat T300 in the video, .3 ohms is the proper spec and this machine tested correctly. If the reading doesn’t match the spec, the next step is to look for any potential interference or objects that may cause resistance. If there is no resistance, then you’ll need to buy a new preheater.
